The Academy of Filipino Neurosurgeons, Inc. is a scientific and professional organization dedicated to advancing the specialty of neurological surgery in the Philippines. It is composed of highly trained and competent specialists who strive to provide the highest standards of neurological practice by fostering among its members the values of excellence, ethical conduct, professionalism, and kinship. It aims to promote the progress of neurosurgery in the country by encouraging high quality research, training and education in the field. From an initial number of 30 Fellows during its founding in 1996, the academy has now grown to more than a hundred members distributed all over the Philippines. The AFN promotes and conducts neurosurgical educational activities in the country’s major regions and works with other health professionals on neurological diseases and their treatment. Today’s highly dynamic and rapidly changing environment poses seemingly insurmountable problems for the practicing Filipino neurosurgeon. The Academy endeavors to meet these challenges and allow the Filipino neurosurgeons to deliver quality, accessible and affordable neurosurgical care to their countrymen.
